Cosumnes CSD is constructing a new recreation and fitness facility that will span across two stories and 59,000 square feet. The top-notch facility will be situated on 4 acres of undeveloped land within Morse Community Park, at the intersection of Bellaterra Drive and Fire Poppy Drive. CORE Recreation Center will offer a diverse range of programs and amenities for the community to come together, have fun, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

MILESTONES

    Grand Opening

  • 2023-2024

    Construction will last approximately 20 months.

  • 2023

    Cosumnes CSD Board awards construction contract to S J Amoroso through a public bid process.

  • 2022

    Final recreation center design totals 59,000 square feet with two gyms, three group exercise studios, a fitness deck, an indoor track, outdoor functional fitness, an outside bouldering area, additional parking, and new landscaping.

  • 2021

    Cosumnes CSD Board approves Barker, Rinker, and Seacat Architecture (BRS) of Denver, CO, to design the recreation center. BRS conducts public meetings to review the building and confirm the design.

  • 2020

    Cosumnes CSD Board approves a Business and Operations Plan based on the feasibility study.

  • 2019

    A feasibility study by GreenPlay, LLC confirms community support and financial viability of a new recreation center. Over 1,100 residents provide input and ideas through public meetings and surveys.

  • 2017

    Cosumnes Parks & Recreation Master Plan proposes the development of a recreation center in Morse Community Park.

  • 2008

    Morse Community Park opens. Four acres are reserved for a future recreation center.

  • 2003

    Recreation center identified for community park in East Franklin Specific Plan.
